SPOT-ON by NOREV |
 |
Spot-On was Triang's (Line's Brothers) contribution to the diecast market and was launched in 1959 to compete against the dominant
Dinky and newcomer Corgi. Obviously there was quite some competition, so Triang's plan was not only to give collectors the same range of features
as their competitors, but more besides.
The decision was made to manufacture models to same precise scale right across the range and chose 1:42 as their scale of choice and advertised the precise
nature of their product as being "spot-on".
There were more than a hundred models designed and included buildings and road signs to the same exact scale. Unfortunately for collectors the range ceased in 1967 when Triang bought out Dinky
Toys.

The good news for collectors is that the range is being revived. Norev, who are already well-known in diecast circles for their excellent
products, have bought the name and are releasing remakes of the originals and some new models to pique the interest of even the most hardened purist.
The first models will be available late 2008 and will comprise of four sports cars, a Rover 3 Litre with working front and rear lights, one of the Thames Traders in British Rail Livery and the
Sports car set 4A consisting of the four aforementioned sports models.
